Police are looking for a person who they say robbed a 7-Eleven this morning in Elmwood Park.

Police say they responded to the convenience store on Broadway at 4:34 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery. According to authorities, the clerk said a young man wearing a white hooded Nike sweatshirt and gray pants entered the store brandishing a large knife or machete.

Police say the man demanded the clerk to remove cash from the drawer. They say the suspect then fled the store with $500.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit searched the area but didn’t find anyone, police say. The Crime Scene Unit from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

The incident is being investigated by the Elmwood Park Police Department Detective Bureau.
