An Elizabeth police officer was struck by a car while trying to stop suspects in a stolen vehicle, authorities say.

An Elizabeth police officer was struck by a car while trying to stop suspects in a stolen vehicle, authorities say.
Police say they attempted to approach the occupants of the stolen vehicle at 9:15 p.m. in the area of Maple Avenue and the northbound side of Spring Street. Police say the driver then pulled away, striking the Elizabeth officer. Police say the suspected vehicle was pursued but lost in the area of Route 78 in Newark.
The officer who was struck by the car is currently recovering, according to police.
No other injuries have been reported.
