Maplewood's Jefferson Elementary School will change its name for the 2022-23 school year.
The South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education says the new name will be more inclusive and respectful.
School district officials were looking to cut the school's tie to one of America's founding fathers due to his affiliation with slavery.
Students from the school will be involved in the renaming process.
