Prosecutors say an 8-year-old boy drowned Wednesday in a creek in Roxbury. They say police found the boy floating face down in the water. The boy was pulled out, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Prosecutors say police were dispatched to a residence in the Flanders section around 3:30 p.m. They say the child was transferred to St. Clare's Hospital in Dover where he was pronounced deceased.
No further details about the boy were released. Even though police are still investigating, officials say the drowning has been deemed not suspicious.
