The Edison water main break continued to impact residents for a fifth day. Water has been restored for most, with the exception of about 80 residents living in the trailer park near the construction site.
In addition to not having water, the only way for them to get in and out is through M Road, which has been closed most of the time due to construction.
Resident Kathy Henderson told News 12, the worst part about it is "just not knowing what's been going on down there and when it might be over."
John Noone who also lives in the trailer park has been using resources wisely. He said, "I've been filling up pots and casserole pans as you can see. And when we use the toilet bowl, pour it down."
He noticed the absence of running water the day after Christmas and hasn't had any since then.
The township is offering an overnight stay at the Sheraton for those who still don't have water. Noone says he and his wife are making the best of it, getting out when they can. He said, "We went to dinner last night, stopped by the Sheraton, took showers and we came back home."
For others, their new year's wish? A simple shower at home. Henderson said, "You just realize how much you really count on turning on that faucet and having water come out."
Mayor Sam Joshi says there are no known contaminants in the water, but the boil water advisory remains in effect for all Edison Utility users. He says access to clean drinking water is still available at distribution centers located at the Edison Senior Center and Firehouses 1 and 2.
