Edison police honor man who rescued woman who fell onto train tracks
The Edison Police Department is giving back to a good Samaritan who rescued a woman who fell onto train tracks, then had his own belongings stolen.
Anil Vennavalai witnessed a woman faint and fall onto the tracks at the Edison train station Friday. Vennavalai and several others jumped down and helped the woman back up safely.
In the meantime, someone walked away with Vennavalai’s bag, which contained his laptop, several pairs of expensive headphones and $200.
The Edison Police Department honored Vennavalai Monday by giving him a check for $1,000 to cover the cost of his lost belongings. The department is also recommending Vennavalai to the Edison Awards Committee for a civilian award.
The police department is investigating the theft.
