Young filmmakers from East Orange were recognized for their best documentary film at the Newark International Film Festival.
The students' film, "Beyond the Barrel: An East Orange Story," is about the personal impact of gun violence.
The documentary takes a close look at the deep-rooted loss students felt when a gun was turned on family, friends and a teacher.
The film was one of almost 1,000 submissions that were submitted from more than 50 countries.
