An early morning fire in Hamilton Township destroyed a three-story duplex, as well as a two-family home.
Police say the fire was caused by an e-bike battery charging overnight in a bedroom.
The fire started just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday on Hamilton Avenue. News 12 New Jersey obtained an exclusive doorbell camera video that shows the fire engulfing the sides of two buildings.
One man escaped by climbing out of a window and onto the roof. Another man walked out of one of the homes and ran to the next to wake up his neighbors.
Police say that two people were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. A firefighter was hurt in a fall but is expected to be OK.
Eight people were displaced, according to officials.
