Residents who live along the Jersey Shore are reporting drone sightings in Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach.
The incidents come nearly a month after the mysterious drone activity began in the Garden State.
Federal officials offered more information on New Jersey’s ongoing drone mystery on Sunday, but much remains unclear.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said Sunday that federal technology has confirmed that there are drones in the sky over New Jersey. He added that many reported “sightings” are aircraft being mistaken for drones.
He reiterated that the government would address any known threat.
Jersey Shore natives are confident that what they’re seeing are drones, not planes.
“They fly low,” said Maria Lynn, of Bradley Beach. "They don't fly like an airplane. It's hard to tell, but these ones, you can see the red lights.“
“I would see them hovering, and at that height, they would have had to have been actually traveling in some direction rather than just hovering,” said Brandon Johnson, of Sea Girt. “They were repeating whatever patterns they were flying.”
It’s even caused licensed, recreational drone pilots to cancel their flight plans.
“Not at night, at least,” said Dave Barlics, of South Amboy. “During the day I would, but I'll wait for things to calm down.”
