A truck driver is recovering from injuries after his garbage truck rolled down a hill and into a West Orange pond.
The driver reportedly parked on a hill near Mount Pleasant Avenue and climbed on top of the truck. The truck then supposedly started to roll backward down the hill and into a pond.
The driver told police he had to jump off before the truck flipped on its side. He hurt his leg, but is expected to be OK.
The truck belonged to Gaeta Recycling Company. Authorities are investigating to find out if the truck's brakes failed or were improperly set.
It is not known why the driver was standing on top of the truck's roof in the first place.
