Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over; that's the name of the state's latest program to target impaired drivers.
More than $750,000 will be distributed between 172 participating police departments in an effort to step up patrols.
The program starts today and runs through Sept. 3.
During the program last year, officers arrested over 1,400 drivers for DWI, 6,000 tickets were issued for speeding, 3,600 tickets were written for seat belt violations and 1,500 fugitives were captured.
State Police Lt. Eric Heitmann says that over the last five years, there have been 31 people killed in crashes over the Labor Day holiday with 60 percent involving impairment.
