A tractor-trailer struck an overpass on Interstate 78 in Newark Wednesday afternoon causing a major traffic backup.
The westbound express lanes were closed following the incident, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. It caused a major traffic backup during the evening rush.
It was not clear when the express lanes would reopen. Traffic was getting by in the local lanes.
Officials have not said how the tractor-trailer crashed or if anyone was hurt.
