Two westbound lanes on Interstate 80 in Wharton are expected to reopen Friday night, weather permitting, the New Jersey Department of Transportation says.
A sealant application on the concrete was completed Tuesday night, with paving potentially finishing late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
Roadway striping, which cannot be done on a wet surface, and a barrier curb installation to separate traffic from the median work zone are still needed.
Motorists are urged to drive slowly, as the speed limit is reduced to 45 mph westbound and 40 mph eastbound in the active work zone.
“Motorists are reminded this is an active work zone and are advised to slow down and use caution,” DOT officials said.
Two eastbound lanes reopened last week, and all lanes are expected to be open by June 25.
