New Jersey native and Hollywood director Kevin Smith is making a grand gesture in light of the Harvey Weinstein sex assault allegations.
The former Red Bank resident says that he will donate all of his future residuals from Weinstein-made movies to the organization Women in Film.
Smith said in his “Hollywood Babble On” podcast that his entire career is tied up with Weinstein. He says that because of that, he will give $2,000 per month to the organization for the rest of his life.
“Hopefully [the money] goes to people that get to make (expletive) without having to deal with some (expletive) animal saying, ‘Here’s the price,’” Smith said.
Smith has been very vocal about his disgust over the Weinstein situation, tweeting, "He financed the first 14 years of my career - and now I know while I was profiting, others were in terrible pain. It makes me feel ashamed."
Weinstein was ousted from his company after the allegations came to light earlier this month.
