The New Jersey Devils’ winning streak is over after a 2-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Devils tied a franchise record earlier this week with 13 consecutive victories. But that streak came to an end Wednesday night.
The defeat was not without frustration. The team has three goals overturned – one in the final period. This caused fans to erupt in anger and throw items onto the ice.
The vibes around the Prudential Center remained positive, despite the loss. Fans of the team have come a long way during this stretch of wins.
At the home opener this year they mercilessly booed the coach, but now many are feeling optimistic.
“I feel good now. I feel good overall. I’m also a Mets fan,” said one Devils fan.
Wednesday’s game was the third straight sellout for the Devils.
The team will be back at the Prudential Center on Saturday against the Washington Capitals.
