Derek Jeter's name appeared on a major league lineup card for the last time Sunday.
The Yankees captain ended an era with an RBI single in his last at-bat. Playing designated hitter, Jeter produced a high chopper to third off of Boston's Clay Buchholz at Fenway Park. He left the game to a standing ovation, and Brian McCann came on to pinch run.
The final hit, Jeter's 3,465th, raised his career batting average to .310. The Yankees went on to win the game 9-5.
The Red Sox sent Jeter off before the game with a ceremony that included salutes from Boston's greats.
The final at-bat of Jeter's career was more muted than the last game he played at Yankee Stadium on Thursday. He scored a walkoff single against the Baltimore Orioles in the bottom of the ninth.
