7h agoTrenton Mayor Reed Gusciora says the impending improvements to a handful of local intersections, including one that's been ranked one of the most dangerous in the country, are a long time coming.
"We've complained about this for a number of years, this is a state highway only the state could address this," said Mayor Reed Gusciora.
The improvements include revising the timing of signals at one intersection, which features both pedestrian and railroad crossing.
At least seven deaths have already occurred at the intersection of Lalor Street and Route 129.
At least two other Trenton intersections are among those getting a facelift under the new Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project.
That project was inspired by the recent death of a crossing guard, which prompted new calls for safety in the state capital.
