A North Jersey man has turned his anger at Superstorm Sandy into art.
Dan Freed created a sculpture of a head, appropriately named "Sandy," from parts of more than 40 trees he lost in the storm. One was a 100-year-old ash tree.
He used cherry for the head and roots for the hair.
The avid woodworker says the project represents his vengeance toward Sandy. "It was totally therapeutic," Freed says. "The more I worked on it and when I got to the end result, I felt it would give other people in New Jersey a sense that recovering was happening."
The statue took six months and more than 300 hours to create.
It's on sale in Sussex County for $16,500.
