(05/14/07) PASSAIC ? A judge ordered bail set at $75,000 Monday for the man accused of getting drunk and leaving his young son in a car for hours.
Police say 32-year-old Danny Ribot forgot about his 2-year-old, Adonis, after drinking at a party Saturday night. When Ribot woke up Sunday morning, it is believed he didn?t know where the baby was. Adonis was later found, taken to the hospital and treated for dehydration and heat exhaustion.
Passaic Municipal Judge Debbie Klugler had some tough words for Ribot and his attorney Monday.
?He?s lucky he wasn?t charged with attempted homicide,? Klugler said. ?Because that?s what?s really happening here. If somebody didn?t go looking for the child, and I think alcohol played a big role in this and I think there?s an alcohol issue here.?
Some of Ribot?s family members were in court to support the accused father. Some say he didn?t drink much at all, just a few beers. A woman with whom Ribot fathered another child with, Janet Rodriguez, said he?s a great father.
Ribot posted bail and is now out of jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for mid-June.
