With Thanksgiving a little over two weeks away, many customers are flocking to their local turkey farms for the freshest birds.

The turkeys at Hinck?s farm in Wall Township are vegetarian-fed, free-range and farm-fresh. Employees at Hinck?s have been working hard to keep up with the demand. They say this year they will serve up more than 6,000 orders for turkey day. The farm says most orders are for turkeys that average about 20 pounds.

Farmers say the concern over recent food-borne illnesses has led to a spike in demand for locally grown food. Customers say when it comes to taste, nothing compares to locally grown turkeys. They say the meat is more tender and moist than frozen turkeys from a supermarket.
