Crews responded to a fire at a Lakewood school building on Friday evening.

The fire was reported at the former Piner Elementary School around 7:30 p.m. The school is located on East County Line Road.

News 12 has learned that the building is used as a Polish supplementary school that teaches night classes.

Principal Roksana Luniewska told News 12 that about 80 people were inside the building and were eating an evening meal when they smelled smoke. The students evacuated safely. No injuries were reported.
