As snow continues to impact parts of New Jersey, crews are closely monitoring road conditions across Morris and Somerset counties, urging drivers to use caution or stay home if possible.
News 12 was in Chester, where snowfall had paused by midday. Main roads remained mostly clear, though some areas were slushy and slick. Drivers were seen traveling slowly, navigating potentially slippery spots.
Local residents and business owners were already shoveling sidewalks and spreading rock salt, preparing for the possibility of more snow later in the afternoon. Snowplows continued to move through town as crews remained on standby.
Earlier in the day, News 12 spoke with Bedminster public works employees who had been salting and plowing roads since 5 a.m.
“If people…stay home and let us do our job, it would be much easier for everybody,” said John Kolodziej, an employee with Bedminster Public Works.
Another worker echoed that message, urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel while crews continue their work. Public works employees said they will remain on the roads until the snowfall ends.
Drivers are reminded to slow down, allow extra travel time and avoid travel if conditions worsen.
