A wildfire impacting parts of Warren County near Hackettstown and Independence Township that has burned at least 100 acres of land has been fully contained as of Saturday morning, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
Officials say that the fire started around 12:30 p.m. Friday near Route 46. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Route 46, Tannery and Russling Roads were temporarily closed but have since reopened, according to officials.
Officials say that the fire destroyed one building and damaged another.
No injuries were reported.
Forest Fire Service crews will remain on scene for the next several days to improve containment lines and address areas of concern until significant precipitation happens to ensure public safety.
Officials say smoke will remain present until a significant amount of rain falls over the area.
Fire officials say that crews have been busy lately with wildfires in Cumberland and Ocean counties. Those fires have consumed more than 16,000 acres of land combined.
