A falling crane severely damaged a home in Tinton Falls that was newly renovated.
The 85-foot-long crane fell on the Survey Lane home Wednesday afternoon, narrowly missing the homeowner.
“He calls me up, he goes, “Dad, dad’…couldn't even talk. I said, ‘What happened?’ He said, ‘The crane fell on my house,’” says Jim Dubel.
Dubel says that his son, Palmer, bought the home and spent six months fixing it up. A branch fell on Tuesday scraping the side of the home. One day later, after removing the tree, the crane collapsed.
Dubel says Palmer was standing only a few feet away when the crane came down. He says that Palmer had to jump out of the way and scratched his arm in the process.
“He dove out of the way and the next-door neighbor saw the crane coming down…it would have killed him,” says Dubel.
Dubel says they will be able to fix the home. No one was seriously injured.
