The Nassau Coliseum opened Tuesday as the fourth county-run mass COVID-19 vaccination site.

There was a steady line outside the Uniondale arena's main entrance, where those with appointments then go through metal detectors before going to the lower level for their shot.

News 12 got a look at the setup, with vaccines being administered right under where the ice is for New York Islanders games.

Those who came to the Coliseum likely got the Moderna shot, which Nassau has been frequently receiving.

Sen. Charles Schumer recently announced the state will be getting more than 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccines every week through the end of April.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says more than 32% of people who live in Nassau have gotten their first shot. The site's opening coincided with vaccine eligible opening up to those 50+ in New York.

"We're talking about when this is going to take off and ramp up, I feel like we're right at the cusp of that right now," Curran.

Only 100 people were vaccinated Tuesday, but that was just as a soft opening. Going forward, officials expect around 400 people will be vaccinated daily.

Vaccines will be administered at the Coliseum Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. through 4 p.m.
