Gina LaPlaca, mayor of Lumberton, faces DUI charges after driving drunk with her son in the car on St. Patrick's Day, police say.

Court documents obtained by News 12 reveal she admitted to police she had been drinking before picking up her child from daycare.

Officers say they found an open alcohol container in her vehicle.

LaPlaca is due in court next month. Her husband posted on social media, calling her a loving mother now seeking help to stop drinking.
