Maria Gonzalez and her five children will finally leave an apartment infested by rats and roaches and riddled with holes.
The woman, whose Section 8 apartment was so rundown that city inspectors said it "failed to meet standards" after a News 12 report last month, will be transferred to a new home, according to Councilman Ritchie Torres.
Lead paint has been removed, and some of the holes have been patched up 21 days after the inspection.
The landlord says the apartment was in good condition when Gonzalez moved in, and that she has been "thoroughly uncooperative" toward efforts to maintain the apartment.
