Public transportation costs are getting higher in Middletown without changing ticket prices.
Parking fees at the Middletown train station are being upped 50 percent. A permit for a spot at the station currently costs $200 per year. That price will jump to $300 beginning July 1.
Commuters who use the station are none too happy.
?I think they have to be cognizant that a huge proportion of their tax revenue derives from salaries that are earned in New York, so if you're going to penalize people in fact for working there, you are biting your nose to spite your face,? says Chris Brondi, of Rumson.
The jump to $300 isn?t the end of the fee hike. The fee is scheduled to increase $50 per year until it hits $450 in 2012.
