More than two weeks after Gov. Jon S. Corzine?s near fatal crash, the attorney general announced that he has formed a special panel to review the operations of the governor?s protection unit.
?This review will not be limited to speeding, seat belts or things to that nature. The panel will look at training, equipment and maintenance of equipment,? said Attorney General Stuart Rabner.
David Jones, the president of the State Troopers Fraternal Association in New Jersey, said, ?We welcome [the probe]. Like anything else, if there?s a way to do something better, to build a better mousetrap, we?re not afraid of that.?
Rabner expects the panel will have results in two months. Based on those results, the way the governor is protected could change.
State police have been investigating the details of the April 12 crash since it occurred.
