Police say they?ve caught a purse snatcher targeting unsuspecting women at grocery stores up and down the Jersey Shore.
Surveillance cameras in several Monmouth and Ocean county supermarkets captured 22-year-old Michelle Johnson, from Stratford Township, swiping purses when the shoppers let their guards down or were distracted, police said.
Johnson, who allegedly also used the credit cards she stole, is out on bail. Brick police charged her on one count of theft, but more counts will be added for the robberies in other communities.
Brick police warn shoppers to always pay attention while shopping or leaving purses unattended. They also urge shoppers to leave unnecessary identification, credit cards and social security cards at home.
