Controversy in Colts Neck is growing over a school visit from Education Secretary Linda McMahon.
McMahon will be speaking at Cedar Drive Middle School and some are worried about bringing politics into public schools.
A petition was started to try and stop this event from happening in part because groups known for conservative politics will be joining her, including Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA.
This is one of the first stops on McMahon's 50-state “History Rocks!” tour -- to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US.
The Colts Neck superintendent did inform parents, saying in an email the event will be 'meaningful' and 'non-partisan.'
However, Michael Gottesman, the founder of the New Jersey Public Education Coalition, a non-partisan group that say they want to ensure inclusion in our public school, believes schools should always have a separation of church and state.
"The thing that concerns us about what's going on in Colts Neck is this part of this larger plan to infiltrate our schools with politics and political ideology and also with religious ideology," said Gottesman.
The event will take place this morning at the school.
