A container fire in Newark Monday morning sent large plumes of black smoke into the air that could be seen for miles.
Dozens of firefighters battled the fire on Riverside Avenue between McCarter Highway and the Passaic River. Newark fire officials say that the fire was in a 20,000-gallon storage tank.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. Fire officials are investigating.
There were no reports of any injuries.
