The community will gather later this week to honor a Hudson County sheriff’s officer who died.
Officer Justin Rivera, 29, died on Friday after falling through a ninth-floor window at the Administrative Building in Jersey City.
A candle lighting ceremony and balloon release will take place on Wednesday, June 4, at 8 p.m. in Bayonne Park. Rivera is a former Bayonne police officer.
Those wishing to participate are encouraged to bring either a red, black or blue balloon, which were Rivera’s favorite colors.
