A year after a Waldwick police officer was killed in a crash while on duty, the community came together to celebrate his life and the new safety measure put in place near where he died.
Officer Chris Goodell was killed while doing radar surveillance along Route 17 when a tractor-trailer slammed into his patrol car.
The stretch of road is known for high speed traffic, according to nearby residents and officials.
Police have since increased enforcement in the area. Additionally, more new safety measures are planned for the area.
Officer Goodell was a Waldwick native who'd spent five years on the job. He was the first Waldwick officer ever killed in the line of duty.
