A fire destroyed the One Step Closer Animal Shelter in Hopatcong just days ago, leading community members to organize fundraisers to help the facility recover.

Fuddruckers in East Succasunna is donating 15% of each order to support the shelter. The Barn in Rockaway is holding a bingo benefit tonight, with all proceeds going to the shelter.

The fire broke out Wednesday evening and left the entire building gutted by flames. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover damages and has raised more than $600,000 so far.

Six dogs died in the fire, and staffers saved 37 others. The animals are now being cared for with help from other shelters, which are working to get them connected with families.
