Colts Neck police are refuting the details of a mass e-mail campaign detailing the rape of a 24-year-old female resident.
The circulating e-mail allegedly states two suspects threw an object in the road so that the victim would hit it and stop. According to Sgt. Joseph Whitehead of the Colts Neck Police Department, 60 percent of the e-mail is false information.
The department acknowledges that a sexual assault did occur at Colts Towne Plaza. Police say in reality, the victim pulled over due to car troubles. She was then attacked by one person.
