A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a retired FDNY firefighter on Long Beach Island.
Conrad Sipa, of Colts Neck, is charged with murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Authorities say 60-year-old Richard Doody, of Staten Island, suffered blunt force trauma to his head and slash wounds to his neck inside his Barnegat Light home. Long Beach Township police discovered Doody's body Monday evening after a concerned family member was unable to contact him for two days.
Sipa, 52, is being held on $1 million cash only bail. He faces at least 30 years in prison if convicted.
Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
