Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and medical expert Dr. Anthony Fauci are being honored for social change, and will be among the people receiving a 2020 Robert F. Kennedy Award Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award.
The award is given to people who are leaders for social change.
Fauci is one of the leading voices in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Kaepernick protested police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 at NFL games.
The ceremony is typically held in person, but this year will be hosted virtually.
Past winners include President Barack Obama, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
