Cold weather causes series of water main breaks, slowing drivers around NJ

Multiple water main breaks were reported around northern and central New Jersey on Friday morning.

The cold weather caused some problems for drivers around the state due to a series of water main breaks and other issues on Friday.

Crews were out making emergency repairs after a break on Route 17 South in Rutherford.

A second break was reported in Ridgefield Park on Route 46. Lanes were closed in both directions for a time while crews made repairs.

A third water main break on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen caused issues near Paterson Plank Road. Drivers were slowed in both directions due to the issues.

And finally, a sinkhole formed in the middle of French Street in New Brunswick. There were delays and detours for most of the afternoon while crews made repairs.
