3h agoChipotle will pay the state of New Jersey nearly $8 million to settle alleged child labor violations.
The state Department of Labor says that over 30,000 violations were found in 2020.
Minors were working too much and not getting enough breaks.
“New Jersey is committed to protecting all workers – especially young workers and others who are vulnerable and may not know their rights in the workplace,” said acting Attorney General Matt Platkin in a statement.
Chipotle will pay the state $7.75 million. The funds will go to the New Jersey Department of Labor’s Child Labor Law Enforcement Trust Fund.
The company also agreed to a compliance plan to avoid future labor law violations in the state.
