Two years after Fairfield's Planning and Zoning Board rejected a proposal for a Chick-fil-A restaurant, one finally opened on Thursday.

The compromise to get the project through is there's no drive-thru. It was a sticking point in the 2012 proposal at the site of the former Joe’s American Bar and Grill.

Back then, the board said that of the 200 emails they had received, just two were in favor of the plan. The rest cited traffic concerns.

Many customers told News 12 they were excited to have a location in town.

The restaurant has signs directing people not to turn into the location from the Post Road or make a left onto the road when exiting.

"We also recommend using our mobile and curbside platforms for the fastest service," says Beattie.

The restaurant is open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Sunday.
