buybaby BABY is closing its stores, including its eight locations in New Jersey. The store, owned by Union-based Bed Bath & Beyond, already has “store closing” signs posted on store windows.
The eight locations closing in New Jersey include Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Deptford, The Plaza at Woodbridge, Livingston, Paramus, Totowa and West Long Branch.
Store closures usually mean big discounts for shoppers, but this also means hundreds of job losses, and leaves a huge hole for parents looking for last-minute necessities for their babies.
buybuy BABY is not the only store that is suffering. Christmas Tree Shops declared bankruptcy a few weeks ago. The retail store started liquidating its 10 New Jersey locations — affecting over 500 New Jersey-based employees.
Local Christmas Tree Shops locations include Brick, Bridgewater, Cherry Hill, Deptford, Freehold, Mays Landing, Paramus, Rockaway, Springfield and Woodland Park.
However, there is some good news for parents or soon-to-be parents in North Jersey with Babies “R” Us making a comeback. The store, which closed in 2017, will reopen a new flagship at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford next week.
