A Bronx woman has been indicted for falsely reporting a bomb threat aboard a Metro-North train, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office says.
Albertyna Mendoza was arraigned Thursday for falsely reporting an incident. She pleaded not guilty and was released.
In May 2025, while traveling on a New Haven-bound train through Westchester County, Mendoza allegedly sent a series of text messages to 911 falsely claiming a man was carrying a bomb in his hand aboard the train.
As a result, the train stopped at the Rye station and all passengers and crew were evacuated. Police and K-9 swept the train but did not find any evidence of a bomb.
Officials say no person matching the description of the man in Mendoza's text messages was found or seen on video surveillance.
All passengers and crew were later transferred to a second train to continue their travel.
Mendoza is expected back in court later this month.
