Students at a Bronx high school worked to save lives by holding an annual blood drive Tuesday.
Herbert H. Lehman High School students recruited donors as part of an in-school competition, but the blood drive hit especially close to home for some.
"Some years ago, my father had surgery and there wasn't enough blood for him, so we had to go through donors and all that stuff and I kind of felt bad," said junior Debora Eseribano.
"Giving blood ... is my way to give back," said senior Joshua Matias.
Seniors who recruited donors qualified for scholarships, and the student with the most donors won Yankees tickets.
