A Bronx resident is back from the Alaskan wilderness, where he took part in a reality survival show in order to prove that New Yorkers are survivors.
John Ulmer is part of the Discovery Channel reality show, "Out of the Wild: The Alaskan Experiment." The goal for participants is to make it back to civilization with only the clothes and gear they're carrying.
Ulmer and eight strangers were stranded in the frigid Alaskan environment for eight weeks and had to hunt, start fires and build shelters. The Bronx man was chosen from over 100,000 applicants. The prize for winning: nothing, only the pride of surviving the trip.
The show premieres on the Discovery Channel Thursday, April 16, at 10 p.m.
