Theaters and schools in New Jersey are still closed – but for some actors and students, the show will go on by way of virtual acting classes.
Actors Harley Harrison Yanoff and Tess Primack founded Broadway From Home. The program offers classes in acting, singing and other theatre arts taught via Zoom, Students from around the world have been signing up.
The actors say that they started the program because the joys of theater and performing can change someone’s outlook on life. They also say that it is a way for kids who love theater to build connections with other people during the quarantine. Yanoff and Primack themselves met during a theater program while in junior high.
The cost of the program starts at $19 with prices depending on the type of session that is booked. Each class is led by a professional performer. A portion of the tuition is being donated to charity.
