A man is accused of using a knife to stab the tires on two cars outside a 7-Eleven in Brick Township on Tuesday all while yelling racial slurs, according to Ocean County prosecutors.
They say Ryan McDonald, 33, became agitated with other customers at the store on Mantoloking Road. It's not clear what led up to the incident.
Prosecutors say McDonald, of Brick, then left the store, retrieved a knife from his car and stabbed the tire of a customer's vehicle. Authorities say he then approached the vehicle of a second customer and used the knife to slash two tires on that car – all while yelling racial slurs. McDonald then fled the scene.
Authorities say a woman and child were in one of those cars at the time.
McDonald is being held at Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing. He's facing numerous charges, including bias intimidation and criminal mischief.
