Treatments for breast cancer can take a daunting toll on a patient’s body. Radiation aimed at stopping the spread in its tracks can also cause damage to nearby organs.
News 12’s Lauren Due spoke with Erin Buchalter, a breast cancer survivor, about how new and more targeted radiation therapy helped her get treatment with fewer side effects. Due explains how proton radiation therapy helped save Buchalter's life.
News 12 and Spectrum News NY1 are collaborating on a program to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month airing on Oct. 30 at 9 p.m. The 30-minute special will highlight cutting-edge research taking place in the tri-state area as well as underscore the importance of breast cancer prevention and detection.
