Brick Township school officials are reviewing video of an apparent fight that broke out during a football game between Brick Township High School and Brick Memorial High School Friday evening.
Superintendent Dennis Fillipone says that the brawl apparently started when a student from Brick Township High School stole a Brick Memorial flag. Students from Brick Memorial tried to get the flag back and that’s when the fight broke out, according to Fillipone.
A 7-second video posted on social media appears to show a group of students beating on another student. It was not clear from the video to which school the students belonged.
Fillipone says that about 10 students were involved in the altercation. He says that school officials met with the Brick Township chief of police Monday to put a plan into place to try to prevent fights such as this from happening again.
School officials are expected to meet Tuesday to discuss disciplinary actions and ways to develop a positive relationship between the two schools.
The annual game between the two schools is known for its heated rivalry and strong attendance.
No injuries were reported during the fight.
