Residents in Waldwick are under a boil water advisory due to a water main break in the town that caused water loss for half of the borough.
The water main break was reported at the corner of East Prospect Street and West Saddle River Road Tuesday morning. Borough officials say it is temporarily fixed.
The break caused schools in the area to close and businesses in the area did not have running water. One homeowner told News 12 that the break caused her garage to flood.
To help residents, the Community Emergency Response Team is distributing water behind the police department to help those impacted. Residents are limited to six bottles of waters each.
As a precaution, the borough has implemented a limited boil water advisory. Residents are urged to boil and cool water before consuming. They are advised not to rely on filtration systems. They should also use a dilute bleach solution if hand-washing dishes.
Borough officials say the boil advisory will remain in effect until crews can get back out to the location on Wednesday to finalize repairs.
